All articles published in the Journal of Design Service and Social Innovation (JDSSI) are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This licensing policy ensures broad dissemination of research while protecting the rights of authors and maintaining the integrity of published work.

License Components
The CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license consists of four components:
1. Attribution (BY)
You must give appropriate credit to the original author(s), provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
This means:
- Always cite the original article with full bibliographic information
- Include author names, article title, journal name, volume, issue, page numbers, and DOI
- Provide a link to the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license
- Indicate if any changes were made (though modifications are not permitted under ND)
- Do not suggest that JDSSI or the authors endorse your use of the work
2. NonCommercial (NC)
You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
Commercial purposes include:
- Any use primarily intended for commercial advantage or monetary compensation
- Inclusion in commercial publications or databases requiring payment
- Use in commercial training courses or consulting services
- Sale of articles or collections containing the articles
- Use in advertising or promotional materials for commercial products
- Any use that directly or indirectly generates revenue
Non-commercial purposes include:
- Educational use in teaching and coursework
- Personal research and study
- Use by non-profit organizations for non-commercial purposes
- Inclusion in non-commercial open access repositories
- Sharing among colleagues for academic purposes
3. NoDerivatives (ND)
If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material.
This means:
- Articles must be used in their original, unmodified form
- You cannot create translations without permission
- You cannot adapt or modify the content
- You cannot create summaries or abridgements for distribution
- You cannot remix content from multiple articles into new works
- The integrity of the published work must be maintained
Exceptions:
- Format changes (e.g., PDF to HTML) that do not alter content are permitted
- Technical modifications for accessibility (e.g., screen reader compatibility) are permitted
- Extraction of data or figures for re-analysis with proper citation is permitted for research purposes
4. No Additional Restrictions
You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
This means:
- You cannot add DRM (Digital Rights Management) to articles
- You cannot require registration or payment to access shared articles
- You cannot impose additional license terms beyond CC BY-NC-ND 4.0
- You cannot restrict others' rights to use the work as the license allows
