The Journal of Architecture and Urban Design (JAUD) is an international, peer-reviewed, annual Diamond Open Access journal published by Michelangelo Scholar Publishing Limited (MSPL). The journal is dedicated to advancing critical research in architecture, urban design, and the built environment, with a focus on the relationship between spatial practice, design theory, and socio-cultural transformation.
JAUD provides an interdisciplinary platform for architects, urban designers, planners, researchers, and scholars to engage in critical dialogue on contemporary and historical issues in the built environment. It welcomes original research articles, theoretical essays, design studies, case analyses, and review papers that contribute to both academic inquiry and professional practice.
The journal particularly encourages contributions that address urban sustainability, architectural innovation, spatial justice, landscape and urban morphology, smart cities, and the cultural dimensions of the built environment. JAUD seeks to foster global and comparative perspectives, connecting diverse regional practices with broader theoretical debates.
As a Diamond Open Access journal, all articles are immediately and permanently freely accessible worldwide upon publication. No Article Processing Charge (APC) is required at any stage of submission, peer review, or publication. Authors retain copyright, and all content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
JAUD maintains a rigorous double-blind peer-review process and high editorial standards, while promoting equitable access to scholarly publishing. The journal aims to contribute to more sustainable, inclusive, and human-centered approaches to architecture and urban design worldwide.
